Children’s Workshop: Tapestry Weaving with Cynthia Alberto at Making Space Brooklyn
Children’s Workshop: Tapestry Weaving with Cynthia Alberto at Making Space Brooklyn
Tapestry, an ancient form of weaving, is known as ‘painting with fiber’. From the classic Navajo weaving to contemporary and modern aesthetics, the possibilities for creativity are endless. In this introductory course for children and teens, Cynthia Alberto from Weaving Hand will facilitate a zero-waste weaving workshop using reclaimed materials from the EILEEN FISHER Renew take-back program. We’ll explore how to dress a loom for tapestry and use joining techniques to create unique designs. Students will walk away with an understanding of the basic principles of tapestry weaving and their own small tapestry by the end of class.
