Learn the art of sculptural crochet, using basic crochet techniques to create beautiful and unique 3D objects. In this workshop students will get the opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials, textures, and crochet techniques to create their own sculpture, vessel, basket or a variety of other unique objects. Students will have the opportunity to play, ask questions, and explore the possibilities that crochet has to offer. All materials, including crochet hooks, will be provided.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Sarah Finkle is a Brooklyn-based fiber artist from Upstate New York with a background in textiles and sculpture. She uses a hand-crochet technique (no hooks or needles!) to create interactive fiber installations and set designs for productions including Chatroom (2015) and The Shapes We Make with Our Bodies (2017). Sarah works with local farms to source her fibers and reuses yarns from one project to the next.
